France's Top City Building Android Games Show Varied Q1 2021 Performance

In the first quarter of 2021, the city building genre remained a staple for mobile gamers in France. Data from Sensor Tower provides an insight into how five leading city building games performed on the Android platform during this period.

ELECTRONIC ARTS' SimCity BuildIt started the quarter with weekly revenues around $24K, dipping to approximately $15K by the end of March. Downloads saw a decline from 6.5K in the last week of December to 1.85K in the final week of March. Weekly active users also decreased from 79K to 72K during the quarter.

The same publisher's The Simpsons™: Tapped Out experienced fluctuating revenues, peaking at $10K in the first week of January and descending to around $4.7K by the end of March. Downloads had a slight increase by March, reaching 4.7K from an initial 2.7K, while weekly active users showed a slight upward trend from 83K to 83.7K.

Megapolis: City Building Sim by Social Quantum Ltd saw its revenue hover around $3K to $4K throughout the quarter, with downloads tapering off from 2.6K to 1.16K. Active users started at 5.4K and experienced a decrease to 4.2K by the end of March.

Game Insight' Paradise Island 2: Hotel Game observed a revenue dip from $3.9K to just under $2K. Downloads in the final week of March were at 932, down from 1.1K at the quarter's start. Active users saw a modest increase from the beginning of the quarter's 2.3K to 2.5K.

Lastly, Global City: Building Games from MY.GAMES B.V. showed a revenue decrease from $1.7K to $2.1K, with downloads peaking at 3.8K in early February before falling to 1.4K by the end of March. Active users spiked to 5K in mid-February but then fell to 3K, ending the quarter on a downward trend.
